The 33rd Annual Celebration of the Holiday Season at James Center! Bring your family to James Center for a beautiful family tradition. At 5:50 p.m. Snow Queen, WRIC8, 103.7 Play, Santa and Friends will welcome everyone to James Center and count down the seconds to turn on the downtown office buildings lights and James Center’s Great Tree & Reindeer! From 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., experience the magic of the holidays with two blocks of family entertainment. Melissa Chase from 103.7 Play is Snow Queen this year, and as a new addition, Jack Lauterback of Play Mornings will be Jack Frost!  Entertainment includes: Good Shot Judy, The James River Brass, SPARC (School of the Performing Arts in the Richmond Community), The American Youth Harp Ensemble, The VCU Trombone Choir & Friends, Characters from the Nutcracker Cast, the Virginia Piedmont & Central HO Model Railroad Club and much more. Clip-Clop Clip-Clop – the sound of horses’ hooves on the cobblestones and jingle bells ringing signal the holidays are here in Richmond’s historic Riverfront. A holiday decorated 12-passenger wagon from James River Carriages circles Shockoe Slip and Shockoe Bottom. One round trip ride per person please. Sponsored by Venture Richmond. Main Street Station Grand Illumination

Main Street Station, 1500 E. Main Street

Hosting their fourteenth Grand Illumination and first in the newly renovated Train Shed, visit “The Gallery at Main Street Station”, hosted by Crossroads Art Center and the kick off of the “Winter Market”, hosted by Southern Grade, so you can SHOP the SHED! Come see Santa and watch the toy trains roll. Listen to Saxophonist James “Saxsmo” Gates as well as Tuba Christmas and watch the Merry Elves Aerialist perform Friday Night. The celebration is FREE and for all ages as are all the events throughout the weekend.

Poe Museum’s Enchanted Garden Illumination

The historic Enchanted Garden comes alive with thousands of lights as the Museum rings in the holiday season with the “Poe Illumination.” Guests enjoy hot apple cider and traditional Christmas music while costumed interpreters show them what Christmas was like during Poe’s time. 34th Annual Dominion Energy Christmas Parade

Starts at the Science Museum of Virginia, 2500 West Broad St.

The 34th Annual Dominion Energy Christmas Parade starts at the Science Museum and continues along Broad Street to 7th Street. The parade features award-winning marching bands, dance troupes, giant helium balloons, floats, and Legendary Santa himself! This beloved Richmond tradition attracts more than 100,000 spectators each year from everywhere in Virginia, with thousands more enjoying the television broadcast on CBS6. For many Richmonders, the parade kicks off the Christmas season. 25th Annual James River Parade of Lights

Each year, boaters decorate their boats and converge on the James River for a parade that marks the beginning of the holiday season. The event has become a cherished holiday tradition for people from throughout the region. Viewing sites include food and entertainment. Presented by the James River Advisory Council. Church Hill showcases the homes where Richmond began. They’re the oldest community in historic Richmond and have homes that were built as far back as the 1700s.
