Shamrock the Block 2007
Saturday, March 17
18th Street in Shockoe Bottom, Free admission, Noon-6 p.m.
One of the most popular outdoor festivals in Richmond, the “Shamrock the Block” festival regularly draws 10,000 to 20,000 Richmonders for the all day music fest. Sponsored by Bud Light, H&R Block, Y101 and 96.5 the Planet, the festival plans on putting the “rock” back in shamrock! Starting at noon, a whole slew of Richmond favorites including 4Play, The Cashmere Jungle Lords, 11to1, The Steepwater Band and Four Stories are set to take center stage. There are also games and things for the kids to do so bring the whole family. Hungry? Local vendors will be dishing up festival and Irish grub, along with plenty of green and golden beverages for everyone. Added bonus: Get ready to rock as entrance to “Shamrock the Block” is free. 8th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Party

You don’t have to be Irish to enjoy this party! Come sip an ice cold beverage and taste some delicious pub food — like fish ‘n chips or corned beef and cabbage. 22nd Annual Irish Festival St. Patrick’s Church in Church Hill
Saturday-Sunday, March 24-25
St. Patrick’s Church, 25th and E. Broad streets, $2 donation, Saturday 10 a.m.-7 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
The holiday’s last hurrah will feature live music, pipe bands, Irish and Highland dancers, Irish vendors and craftspeople, children’s games and rides, plenty of traditional and not-so traditional food and drink. There will even be a St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Saturday at 10 a.m. on Broad Street between 24th and 26th streets! This years line up features many local bands, including The Janet Martin Band, Andy & Cindy, Uisce Beatha, the Poisoned Dwarfs, the Floating Folk Festival, Kelly Kennedy, the Ex-Patriots, Wrinkle Neck Mules, Powder Keg, the Bart Chucker Band, Gary Gerloff, Billy Ray Hatley and the Showdogs, Tinkers Damn, Page Wilson w/Reckless Abandon and live from Ireland “Suas.” All proceeds go to the preservation of historic St. Patrick’s Church, ASK, Richmond Hill, St. Baldrick’s, and more. No pets allowed. A free parking shuttle will be provided at 19th and E. Broad Street in the parking lot next to McDonald’s.
