River District Canal Cruises (late summer season Sept. 1-30)

Thursday through Saturday noon – 7 p.m., Sunday noon – 5 p.m.

Canal Turning Basin - Dock and 14th Streets, $5 adults, $4 seniors and children (5 to12 years old), age 4 and under free with an adult. Thirty-five minute historically narrated tours of the James River and Kanawha Canal along the River District’s Canal Walk.  Tour begins every hour on the hour. Private charters are also available. 9th Annual halfway to St. Patrick’s Day Party

Saturday, Sept. 15

Classic on the James, Central Virginia British Car Show

Sunday, Sept. 16 and 23 
Brown’s Island, admission $5, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

More than 300 cars and motorcycles will be on display at Brown’s Island, overlooking the James River. Every type of British automobile will be represented along with a full class of British motorcycles. Vendors will offer a wide variety of accessories. VIVA! ITALIA Richmond’s Original Italian Street Festival

Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 29-30

25th and E. Broad Streets in Church Hill, free admission, Saturday from 11 a.m. – 9 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. – 6 p.m.

Richmond’s Italian-American community, in partnership with Historic St. John’s Church, has organized two days to celebrate Italy! Cultural displays will be provided by local Italian organizations, live demonstrations, traditional Italian folk dancing, wine tasting and live music are among the many things planned for the two day festival. Authentic Italian cuisine will be provided by local Italian restaurants. Calzones, pasta, pizza, cannolis and gelato are only a few of delicacies that will be available.
