2009 Transportation Conference
Thursday, May 28

7:30 - 9:30 a.m.
Randolph-Macon College, Blackwell Performing Arts Center, 205 Henry Street, Ashland
Free and open to the public

Please Join the Greater Richmond Chamber and Virginians For High Speed Rail as we bring Joseph Boardman, President & CEO of Amtrak and John Lewis, CEO of GRTC Transit System together to speak about high speed rail and Main Street Station as a multi-modal hub.

The Chamber's Regional Transportation Advocacy Board (RTAB) is currently chaired by former Secretary of Transportation, Whitt Clement. RTAB is gathering experts on transportation as well as local business leaders, state and government officials for the 2009 Transportation Conference. The goal is to review regional transportation priorities and help determine what our short and long-term strategies should be for ensuring that this Region's transportation needs now and in the future are met. We already know there are a growing number of transportation needs throughout the Capital Region. Our roadway infrastructure needs attention and funds to remain viable, our public transit system is embarking on a bold new vision for service, and we must continue to increase our air traffic - particularly for our low-cost carriers, and develop a plan for better rail transportation between Richmond, the DC Corridor and Hampton Roads. Our Region has been successful in planning for future transportation needs and staying on the cusp of growth. To remain successful, we must continue to work on our strategic plan for addressing these regional needs.
