Is hosting a series of presentations about the progress that is being made advancing high-speed rail, the different funding sources, Virginia's proposed projects, and other high-speed rail information. Everyone is welcome to attend and we encourage you to invite your friends.

Argentinean Saxophonist Gato Barbieri Live

Gato Barbieri, a legendary Argentinean jazz musician, will bring his trademark tenor saxophone style to the Fridays at Sunset International Music Festival® on July 31. Known as "Barbieri the Cat," Gato rose to fame through his contribution to the free jazz movement in the 60's and his Latin jazz recordings in the 70's. He is one of the world's most talented smooth jazz players with a style that fuses South American sounds and cultures into unique and inspiring arrangements. In addition to contributing to multi-artist projects and scoring several feature films, Barbieri earned a Grammy for his score for Bernardo Bertolucci's film, Last Tango in Paris. His other albums which garnered high acclaim include Caliente, Que Pasa and The Shadow of the Cat.
The opening artist for the July 31 concert will be Timbason, a Richmond band that plays traditional and new Cuban music. Fridays at Sunset takes place at Kanawha Plaza, located at the corner of 8th and Canal Streets in downtown Richmond. Gates open at 6 p.m. Tickets for the Barbieri concert are $20 and can be purchased at Ticketmaster, the Landmark Theater, online at www.fridaysatsunset.com or at the gate on the day of the show.
