Williams Mullen law firm moves to skyscraper of its own

(Any day now) 275 Richmond employees will pack up, move across the street and take over their own Williams Mullen skyscraper.
The $62 million, 16-story building adjoining the Richmond Metropolitan Authority garage (at 9th & Canal Streets) is the last block of the James Center master plan to be completed, said Chris Odle, development executive for the Virginia Beach firm Armada Hoffler, which developed the building. It has broad sweeping views of the James River, the city and downtown.
The top floor is all conference space, with one room set aside with enough technology to make possible the attorneys' many teleconferences. The developer installed high-efficiency glass windows, used low-odor paints and glues and installed a reflective roof to keep temperatures down.
The building has 258,000 square feet of office space, parking and retail. Williams Mullen, the principle tenant, will occupy about 140,000 square feet.
