Easter on Parade
Sunday, March 23
1:00-5:00 pm
Easter on Parade, the beloved Richmond tradition of "parading" down
scenic Monument Avenue, continues this year on the avenue between Allen
and Davis Avenues.
Each year upwards of 35,000 people converge upon the four-block site to
celebrate the arrival of spring and the beauty of Monument Avenue.
Music in every block, arts, crafts, children's activities, food and, of
course, people and pet watching are all a part of the celebration which
is, literally, a parade of Richmonders.
A highlight of this year's event will be the dedication of the event's
Main Stage in honor of Zayde R. Dotts, founder of the Monument Avenue
Preservation Society and originator of Easter on Parade, who passed
away last September. Also, the ever-popular Pet Bonnet and People
Bonnet Showcases will be held at 3 p.m. and 4 p.m., respectively, on
the Main Stage at Allen Avenue. New this year is an official Bunny
Photo Booth. Roving entertainment includes Jonathan Austin, More or
Less Morris Dancers and Peggy the Clown.
