U. S. Open Cycling Coming to Richmond

You won't want to miss the U.S. Open Cycling Championship this, Saturday, April 7th, from 10:00-12:30 at 8th and Broad streets. This Nationally televised event by NBC Sports will feature a Tour de France-style media blitz featuring helicopter-borne cameras with color commentary by NBC Sports Olympic commentator Al Trautwig, and on-course motorcycle reporting by Tour de France hero Frankie Andreu. The 170 riders top riders from 35 different countries will be dueling it out to see who will be the U.S. Open Champion.

The Men's race starts in Williamsburg, passes by Jamestown, goes along scenic Route 5 before entering Richmond. The riders then complete eight circuits on a 5.5-mile course through Shockoe Slip and Shockoe Bottom, with a critical uphill climb to Libby Hill Park. Spectators are encouraged to watch the race at the party stops at Libby Hill Park in Church Hill or Governors Street just behind the Governor's mansion or at the finish at 8th and Broad streets.
