Easter on Parade, Sunday, April 8, 2007
First Market Bank is proud to present Easter on Parade
Easter on Parade, the beloved Richmond tradition of "parading" down
scenic Monument Avenue, continues this year on Sunday, April 8, on the
avenue between Allen and Davis Avenues. First Market Bank is the title
sponsor.
Each year upwards of 35,000 people converge upon the
four-block site to celebrate the arrival of spring and the beauty of
Monument Avenue. Music in every block, arts, crafts, children's
activities, food and, of course, people and dog watching are all a part
of the celebration which is, literally, a parade of Richmonders.
Two highlights of the annual event are the Pet Bonnet and
People Bonnet Showcases at 3 p.m. and 4 p.m., respectively, on the Main
Stage at Allen Avenue. Roving entertainment includes Jonathan Austin,
More or Less Morris Dancers and Applause Unlimited.
Scheduled performances include:
Davis Avenue: Floating Folk Festival, 2-5 p.m.
Main Stage: In Yo Pockit Brass Band, 1 p.m., Hood Temple AME Zion Male Chorus, 2 p.m.
JHI Stage: The Taters, 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., Adrian Duke Projek, 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.
2211 Stage: Debo Dabney, 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., Alfredo & Friends, 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.
The FREE event has been produced and managed by citycelebrations
since 1987 and is now produced by Venture Richmond. Venture Richmond is
the organization that represents the merger of Richmond Renaissance,
River District Alliance, Riverfront Development Corporation and
citycelebrations.
