Venture Richmond, in partnership with the City of Richmond and the National Council for the Traditional Arts, will produce the Richmond Folk Festival October 10-12, 2008.

The Valentine Richmond History Center launched Richmond History Makers in 2005 to annually recognize, honor, and celebrate those everyday citizens and outstanding organizations that are making significant contributions to the greater Richmond region.

Public nominations will be accepted through June 30 for those who are benefiting our community by mentoring best practices, leading successful initiatives and contributing positively through innovative methods. Nominees will be selected based upon distinction in one of the following categories:

Creating Quality Educational Opportunities
Improving Racial Equality and Social Justice
Demonstrating Innovative Solutions
Promoting Stronger Communities
Fostering Regional Cooperation

Leadership Metro Richmond (LMR) oversees the selection process for Richmond History Makers. All nomination forms received will be considered by an impartial panel of judges who are graduates of LMR's leadership program. One nominee will be honored in each of five categories, and winners will be notified and announced by September 1.
