Venture Richmond, in partnership with the City of Richmond and the
National Council for the Traditional Arts, will produce the Richmond
Folk Festival October 10-12, 2008.

The Valentine Richmond History Center launched Richmond History Makers
in 2005 to annually recognize, honor, and celebrate those everyday
citizens and outstanding organizations that are making significant
contributions to the greater Richmond region.
Public nominations will be accepted through June 30 for those who are
benefiting our community by mentoring best practices, leading
successful initiatives and contributing positively through innovative
methods. Nominees will be selected based upon distinction in one of the
following categories:
Creating Quality Educational Opportunities
Improving Racial Equality and Social Justice
Demonstrating Innovative Solutions
Promoting Stronger Communities
Fostering Regional Cooperation
Leadership Metro Richmond (LMR) oversees the selection process for
Richmond History Makers. All nomination forms received will be
considered by an impartial panel of judges who are graduates of LMR's
leadership program. One nominee will be honored in each of five
categories, and winners will be notified and announced by September 1.
