January 20, 2009 Inauguration Day Events in Downtown Richmond
Inauguration Day Interfaith Service of Prayer & Music, featuring Gospel Sensations Maggie Ingram & the Ingramettes
On Inauguration Day, St. Paul's Episcopal Church will host an
interfaith service of prayer and music followed by a broadcast of the
swearing-in ceremony. Leading the prayer service are The Rev. D.
Wallace Adams-Riley (St. Paul's), Anjum Ali (Virginia Muslim
Coalition), The Rev. Dr. Yvonne Jones Bibbs (Sixth Baptist Church), and
Rabbi Ben Romer (Congregation Or Ami). Leading the music will be gospel
sensations Maggie Ingram and the Ingramettes, the award-winning
Richmond-based group recently featured on stage at The Kennedy Center
in Washington, D.C. The prayer service will begin at 10:30am and end in
time for interested participants to head to Parish Hall to watch a
broadcast of the Presidential swearing-in ceremony and inaugural
address (at 11:30am). The day will conclude with a chorus of patriotic
hymns. Light refreshments will be available in Parish Hall.
