Mayor Dwight Jones Officially Opens the Hilton Garden Inn Richmond Downtown
in the Miller & Rhoads Building

The Hilton Garden Inn Richmond Downtown opens with Mayor Dwight C.
Jones cutting the ribbon in a ceremony that brings Richmond's beloved
Miller & Rhoads building back to life.
"This bold restoration project has just the right touch of nostalgia.
Richmonders will appreciate the historic characteristics that have been
preserved from the old Miller & Rhoads as so many of us have fond
memories attached to that site. The new Hilton Garden Inn and Miller
& Rhoads Residences is a shining example of downtown's growing
vibrancy," said Richmond Mayor Dwight C. Jones following a tour of the
renovated building.
The new Hilton Garden Inn Richmond Downtown, located on the corner of
East Broad and Fifth streets, offers 250 rooms, including 15 suites,
all equipped with complimentary wireless high speed Internet access,
refrigerator, microwave, coffeemaker, 32-inch flat screen HDTV and a
large work desk with adjustable lighting and ergonomic Herman Miller
chair.
"Bringing the historic Miller & Rhoads building back to active
commerce fulfills a dream for so many in Richmond, who hold fond
memories of visiting here years ago. We invite everyone to visit and
see how we have transformed this building into a modern hotel while
maintaining some of the original historic features, such as the
original marble floors," McGhee added.
The Hilton Garden Inn Richmond Downtown offers more than 6,000 square
feet of flexible meeting and event space all on one level, including
the Miller Rhoads Gerhart Ballroom and the Old Dominion Boardroom with
large windows that are a noted feature of the historic building.
The hotel's Great American Grill restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and
dinner every day, and the Pavilion Pantry is open 24 hours a day
offering food, beverages and sundry items.
The opening of the Hilton Garden Inn Richmond Downtown is one part of
the restoration of the entire historic Miller & Rhoads building
that also includes 133 condominium units and 20,000 square feet of
retail space.
