First Fridays Art Walk


Nearly 40 diverse creative venues in Downtown Richmond are opened on and off Broad Street between Belvidere St. and 8th St. located in Jackson Ward and Monroe Ward. The Art Walk features galleries, unique shopping, top-rated restaurants, cultural organizations, historic accommodations, and independent studios.

First Fridays is a free self-guided experience, held rain or shine between 5:00pm-9:30pm and celebrates Richmond's thriving arts and cultural community.

Connecticut on the James

Festivites begin at 1:00 pm - Unveiling at 3:00 pm.

You are invited to a ceremony of honor, remembrance and dedication as the Connecticut statue is revealed at its new home on the ODELL Building originally the Power Plant at Lucky Strike overlooking Chief Powhatan's Seat on the James River in Downtown Richmond.

The River District Canal Cruise boats will have an ideal view of Connecticut's new home on the Odell Building in Tobacco Row. The unveiling ceremony starts at 3pm so the best views will be on the boats during and after the unveiling. The Canal Cruises will operate until 7 p.m. on Saturday.

Brunswick Stew Festival

Saturday, November 6, 2010
11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

This year's festival will feature nearly two dozen stew masters from around the east coast making both traditional and non-traditional Brunswick stew for sale. Stew samples will be sold at each booth from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., after which festival attendees will be able to purchase quart sized containers of their favorite stew. The festival will also have a myriad of vendors selling unique handmade items at great prices for the holidays. Live music will be provided by jazz singer Sharon Rae North and local Richmond band Proverbial.

The 17th Street Farmers' Market is located at 100 North 17th Street.
Free parking is available in the 18th and Grace Street lot.

The 11th Annual Brunswick Stew Festival is sponsored by the city of Richmond, Shockoe Bottom Neighborhood Association, Brown Distributing, Cox Communications and the historic 17th Street Farmers' Market.
