Reminder: RVA Banner Design Competition—DEADLINE Today
Creativity Is Yours for The Making
Deadline for submission April 7, 2011
RVA Creates and Venture Richmond know RVA is full of creative, design-savvy people and we want to give everyone a chance to design the next series of street pole banners that will be displayed all over Downtown RVA.
Just use the new RVA Downtown logo, or some variation of it, to create original artwork showcasing your love of RVA or what creativity in Richmond means to you. You could be one of the top designers chosen to have your art turned into a street pole banner displayed in Downtown RVA—along with up to $500 in your pocket.
The Prizes:
Multiple winning entries will be chosen by a group of RVA Creates
partners and two of those winning entries will be awarded a First and Second Prize. In addition, one winner will be voted by the public as the "People's Choice" through an online poll. All winning designers will have their work displayed on downtown street pole banners for a year or more!
The First Prize, Second Prize, and People's Choice Award will go to the best of the best, regardless of the theme or focus. However, for the other winning entries, preference will be given to downtown-centric designs, since the banners will be hanging throughout Downtown RVA.
The top three entries will receive these cash prizes:
First Prize: $500
Second Prize: $300
People's Choice Award: $200
Winning banners will be unveiled at the Richmond Ad Club's annual Richmond Show, Friday, April 15, 2011, at The Renaissance.
How to Submit:
Rule #1 - Banner designs must incorporate the RVA Downtown logo, or some variation of it. The RVA logo is located at
www.RVAcreates.com under the RVA Generator section.
Rule #2 - You must submit your design(s) by midnight on Thursday, April 7, 2011. Electronic designs may be submitted via email to
rvacreates@gmail.com. If the file size is too large for email, you may use our FTP—just email us for the login info. If you have a non-electronic design, you may drop it off at Elevation Advertising (9 West Main Street) by 5 p.m. on Thursday, April 7, 2011.
Rule #3 - There are no more rules. Let your imagination run wild!
For the detail-oriented, here are the specs:
Final printed banners will be 30" wide x 96" tall, so it helps to size your designs proportionately. However, submissions may be created any way you like and in any format—graphics, paintings, photographs, collages—so let your creative juices flow. If you're a graphic designer, do your thing and send us print-ready files. If not, create your design using any medium, and our designers will help turn your creations into print-ready banners.
All winning artwork becomes property of Venture Richmond, with credit given to the artist. Final artwork will be printed by Venture Richmond and its design partners in consultation with the winning designers.
Judging:
Winning banners will be selected by a group of RVA Creates partners from The Martin Agency, VCU Brandcenter, West Cary Group, J H I, Elevation, The Hodges Partnership, Venture Richmond, RVA News, RVA Magazine, and the City of Richmond.
One People's Choice winner and two runners up will be chosen through online voting, promoted through RVA News and the RVA Creates facebook page. The submission with the most votes by midnight on Thursday, April 14, 2011, will be named the People's Choice.
