Celebrate freedom as the City of Richmond recognizes the emancipation of enslaved Africans in Richmond as well as slices of cultural life today. Witness the reclamation of Richmond's African Burial Ground and learn about DNA testing at the Black History Museum and Cultural Center of Virginia. Experience a torch lit night walk on the Trail of Enslaved Africans with the Elegba Folklore Society. Enjoy the smooth sounds of music, spoken word, a jazz brunch and comedy as you explore Richmond's rich history and discover many treasures along the way.

Join the Future of Richmond's Past and the Richmond Slave Trail Commission for a FREE walking tour of the Richmond Slave Trail. Members of the Commission will be on hand to guide visitors along the trail's 17 markers. The 1.3 mile walk will begin at the Manchester Docks near Ancarrow's Landing (1308 Brander Street, Richmond, VA 23224.) Please wear appropriate walking shoes and be prepared for weather conditions. Water will be provided at stops.

Parking will be available at Manchester Dock with return shuttle service provided by 2BNB from Lumpkin's Jail (Shockoe Bottom) back to Manchester.)
