First Fridays Art Walk

We invite you to join us in celebrating Richmond's thriving arts and cultural community on the first Friday of each month for this free self-guided experience held rain or shine between 5:00pm-9:00pm, as well as throughout the month. Richmond's most popular arts and cultural program showcases nearly 40 unique creative venues in Downtown Richmond, Virginia in the areas east of Belvidere Street and west of 8th Street, and north and south in Historic Jackson Ward and Monroe Ward. First Fridays showcases diverse galleries, unique shopping, top-rated restaurants, cultural organizations, historic accommodations, and independent studios.

Come to Richmond’s largest fireworks display for FREE!

Prepare yourselves for the best and biggest fireworks display that this town has ever seen! RVA will come together at 6pm on Brown’s Island on the 3rd of July to celebrate American independence. This will be a patriotic and family friendly event. The public is invited to bring a picnic and a blanket or lawn chair to enjoy the evening’s festivities. Starting at 7:30, RVA Fireworks on the James features performances by SPARC (School of Performing Arts in the Richmond Community), the Richmond Symphony Youth Orchestra and the Richmond Ballet's "Minds in Motion." The fireworks begin at 9:30 and go until about 10pm. This event is generously sponsored by Dominion and MWV.

To accommodate the fireworks there will be a few road closures.

Sunday, July 3, at 5 p.m. Belle Island, the Belle Island parking area on Tredegar Street, and the Lee Bridge will close. The Island and parking area will re-open Monday, July 4, at the normal opening time. The Lee Bridge will re-open Sunday, July 3, at 11 p.m.

The road closures at 5pm on Sunday July 3rd are as follows:
Close Riverside Drive at 20th
Close 2nd at Spring Street
Close Oregon Hill Parkway
Close Entrance ramp from 2nd street to Lee Bridge
Southbound closure on Belvidere before Byrd
Northbound closure on Cowardin before Semmes
Drivers are advised to take alternate routes across the river using the Manchester, Mayo, and Boulevard (Nickel) bridges. For more information visit www.fireworksonthejames.com
